Jerry's Page

Jerry Hagins has been playing the banjo since he was 17 with occasional breaks for food and rest. He was inspired to learn the old tunes from the man who sold him his first banjo, Oral Griffith of Arlington, Texas. Jerry began trying to learn bluegrass picking and old time frailing at the same time and still sometimes gets them confused. He plays in various and sundry bands in Austin including Pistol Love Family Band, the Health & Happiness String Band, and the Big Ernie collective. He has recorded with the fiddling poet Ken Waldman and performs with him for Texas gigs.
Jerry also has been on the cover of the Austin Chronical  and was featured in the article on Old Time Music in Central Texas.
Jerry also gives lessons and can be reached by email..
